Twitter April 21st, 2009
I recently started in the twitter community not knowing what I was doing or why I was doing it! I don’t think I was alone there. It took me a while to get the ‘jist’ of it all, and wrap my head around it all. The first time I visited the site it was all mumbo -jumbo to me.
After a couple of weeks, I am starting to get the idea. Once it sinks in, twitter can be a very effective way to get your message out to your people. I like the idea of the short ‘tweets’. I like the timely nature of the information. I like the availability of the other members. I like to see what others have to say without taking all day to keep up with everyone.
The more I use twitter, the more I see how differently other people use it. Some people never tweet anything but business. Others tweet nothing but nonsense. I think I like to see a combination of both the person and the business. It’s always nice to see the personal side of people. A laugh or smile along the way doesn’t hurt either.
I can see where people would be addicted to it. The little tweets are rather addicting.
Whatever the fascination with this tweeting thing, I feel it is here to stay. I see this being around for a while, especially to business people and marketers. It’s a great platform to broadcast news and stories of interest to our group. Perhaps it is the sense of belonging to a group that is so popular. It is also viral in that your followers have your posts available to all their viewers and so on. What a cool little tool. It’s like a mini-blog and auto-responder all in one. As a marketer I plan to make this one of my daily activities. There are so many applications for this, anyone with a unique business online should take advantage of this little tool to market your opportunity and grow your business.
The only downfall I can see, is that I get caught up in being nosy and spending too much time snooping around seeing what everyone else is doing.

In My Humble Opinion…
